Hans-Peter Schröcker studied descriptive geometry and mathematics at the University of Graz and the Graz University of Technology. After first positions in Vienna he moved to Innsbruck where he became professor for geometry and kinematics in 2018.
In his research, he applies methods of classical geometry, algebra, and computational algebraic geometry to problems of computer aided geometric design, mechanism science and robotics. He has written about 110 articles with 40 different co-authors from 14 countries.
In July 2010 he was Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo. Currently he is Regional Director for Tyrol/Vorarlberg of the Austrian Mathematical Society and Vice-President for the World Region Europe/Near East/Africa of the International Society for Geometry and Graphics. Since 2020 he is managing editor of the Journal for Geometry and Graphics and in 2022 he was awarded the Steve M. Slaby Award.
